First two games hit Facebook

Mobile publisher Zed unveils plans for social gaming push with iZ
It's not uncommon to see social gaming companies such as Zynga making concerted efforts to bring their franchises to mobile.

Moving in the other direction is a less well trodden path but that's Spanish publisher Zed's intention. It wants to make its mark in the social gaming scene part in what it claims is an effort to become the biggest social player in Europe.

Nurturing nature

Branded under the iZ banner – tagged as 'social fun by Zed' – are the publisher's first two social titles, American Football management sim Sports City and brain teaser InGenius.

Both games have already made their debut on Facebook, with their respective releases part of Zed's initial $10 million investment in social games.

The publisher has also apportioned a team of 300 employees to work on its social push, following CEO Javier Pérez Dolset's declaration that Zed is "social by nature".

Social strategy

"The new business unit was born with the objective to become the top social games developer in Europe, and be between the five highest companies in terms of number of worldwide players," the publisher said in a statement.

"iZ is a step ahead in the Zed's goal is to be the global leader in the creation, delivery and marketing of digital content and entertainment for digital networks."

Zed has confirmed the next two iZ releases – TV Studio Boss and Fashion Diva – with InGenius having already tapped up more than 500,000 players across the US, Russia, Philippines, Indonesia, Argentina and UK.
