Riding Android monetisation gap

Accumulate sees its game wrapper Flexion hit 20 million uses
Presenting and distributing mobile games in the most flexibile way is important, especially on platforms such as Java and increasingly on Android, which still lacks decent monetisation options.

And it seems that Accumulate's Flexion wrapper, which enables developers to control access to a full game embed or download in terms of trials and pay for play usage, as well as handling DRM and billing, is fulfilling a need.

Flexible Flexion

In total, it's been used in 20 million installs, and that total is increasing at a rate of 1.5 million per month.

The reason is the increase in partners using the technology, with the likes of Nokia, EA, Hutchison 3G, Telefonica O2, Orange, Sony Ericsson and Alcatel onboard.

"This is a major milestone for us to hit and it highlights the growth that is available in this sector," says Accumulate UK's managing director Jens Lauritzson.

"Wrapper technology enables content publishers to create the best possible content and do that once. The additional services, such as billing or DRM, can be added by the wrapper, so that it doesn't affect the core content."

In keeping with this push, Accumulate also plans to rebrand itself using the Flexion name in 2011.
