Cut the Rope breaks six million sales barrier on iOS

Gets Valentine update too

Cut the Rope breaks six million sales barrier on iOS
It took six weeks to for the Zeptolabs-developed and Chillingo-published Cut the Rope to hit three million sales, making it the fastest selling iOS game to that point.

And another ten weeks on, it's doubled its sales to six million, although considering the speed with which Angry Birds took off around this point, it's a moot point which was the fastest to six million.

"Chillingo is proud to help make Om Nom one of the most recognised game characters on the iOS platform," explained Chris Byatte, Chillingo's co-general manager.

"We are excited to work closely with talented indie developers, such as Zeptolab, to bring the best games to consumers. We are thrilled to constantly receive wonderful stories about how players adore Cut the Rope."

Cupid's gone green

In order to keeps the sales momentum up, a Valentine's Day update has also been announced.
Cut the Rope version 1.2 will introduce the Valentine's Day Box consisting of 25 new levels for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad versions of the game.

Along with a heartfelt background, the levels boast a new candy-fusion mechanic in which you must combine two halves of a piece of candy before feeding the ravenous Om Nom.

Efim Voinov of Zeptolab was keen to thank fans for supporting the game.

"This 1.2 update is our gift to you this Valentine’s Day for being the greatest fans out there; we hope players love the new box, levels and features just as much as we enjoyed creating it," he said.

The Valentine's Day Box update is expected to be available within the week.
