Airplay SDK set for push at London showcase

Vodafone, Sony Ericsson and Ideaworks host 3D developer day on April 16
3D gaming might be the current buzz phrase, but many mobile developers are happy sticking with 2D, for technical and budgetary reasons.

Encouraging them to up their game, Vodafone, Sony Ericsson and Ideaworks Labs have come together to host a developer day for studios interested in working on 3D games and apps for Android.

The focus is twofold; to sell the idea of 3D development to the community, and then give it an insight into how to do it right.

The big three for 3D

Given the sponsors, the day has a certain commercial edge, and will take place at Vodafone's London offices, on Saturday April 16.

Ideaworks' Airplay SDK – the studio's C/C++ development tool is set to play a prominent role, with head Mark Sheehan showcasing the technology.

Also on board is Sony Ericsson's software innovator Erik Hellman, who – as an Android advocate – will detail the delivery of 3D graphics and user interfaces on Google's platform.

Finally, Vodafone itself will host a talk on the best way to market 3D apps, via Vodafone Shop and Android Market.

Running between 10.30am and 4.30pm, tickets are free, and pizza willl be provided, with those looking to attend advised to register their spot on the event's page on Eventbrite.
