Appsfire downloads hit 2 million as discovery tool secures $3.6 million in funding
App discovery specialist Appsfire has closed a $3.6 million strong round of investment, coinciding with what it reports is a boon to its business.

The company, which aids app downloads by allowing users to share titles with their friends on both iOS and Android, claims its apps for both platforms have been downloaded 2 million times.

That's an audience that generates a further 3 million downloads of apps on the App Store and Android Market every month, Appsfire states.

Moving on with money

The fresh investment, which was led by French VC firm Idinvest Partners, will be put towards further expanding its business, hiring new business development and engineering staff and launching its new SDK.

Co-founder Ouriel Ohayon said the firm is also considering branching out to new mobile platforms.

"We are delighted to work with Idinvest Partners and move to the next level," he said of the investment round.

"Our unique position in the market as a service for consumers and a platform for developers allows us to answer the complex needs of finding and promoting applications, the predominant format for consuming content on a mobile device."
