Ahead of PS Vita's roll out in the US and Europe - due to take place on 22 February - Sony has announced it is to rename PlayStation Network as part of a wider restructuring of it's digital entertainment output.
As of Wednesday 7 February, PlayStation Network will be rebranded as Sony Entertainment Network, with the company looking to condense its various hands in the sector into one global whole.
SEN-sible
"This transition is based on Sony's goal to enhance its unique digital entertainment offering," the firm said in a statement.
"As a series of these activities Sony started last September, PlayStation Network will be aligned with 'Sony Entertainment Network'."
The name change will have no impact on account holders, however, with login details and processes remaining unchanged.
"This helps us get closer to our goal of establishing a global comprehensive network platform of services across games, movies, music and more, all accessible from one convenient account," Sony concluded.
The decision follows the company's move to rebrand the recently fully acquired Sony Ericsson with Sony's colours, with the firm looking to foster greater ties between its operations in both the smartphone and portable gaming markets.
