AppMobi launches HTML5 development, deployment and monetisation playMobi tool for iOS and Android
Though commentators are now suggesting HTML5 is not yet ready to mop up the mass market, the platform still boasts some notable early backers.

Few could question appMobi's commitment to the platform, for instance: in October, the firm launched its MobiUs app upon the world - helping to deliver web-based games into the hands of consumers on iOS – before making its HTML5 dev tools open source a few weeks later.

Now the company has unveiled a new 'write once' API - called playMobi - to help studios develop, deploy and monetise HTML5 titles across multiple platforms.

Mobi magic

PlayMobi's JavaScript API is designed to help studios overcome the typical hurdles they face day-to-day on HTML5, including user authentication, in-app payments, player engagement, scoring and leaderboard all boxes the firm claims to have ticked.

"With a single JavaScript API, playMobi gives HTML5 game developers all the tools they need to create interesting and socially engaging games that run on iOS, Android and Facebook platforms," said CTO Sam Abadir.

"PlayMobi includes slick in-app purchasing capabilities based on appMobi's patent-pending '1Touch' technology, making the experience very simple and highly secure.

"PlayMobi leverages the rapidly expanding HTML5 platform, offering game developers the unique ability to 'write it once' and deploy the same code to iOS, Android, Facebook, and the open Web - fully compliant with each platform’s terms of service."

Currently in beta, developers interested in signing up for playMobi should visit the appMobi website.
