CEO Tewari to detail more stats at MWC 2012

More than half mobile users make purchases on their devices, claims InMobi
As a taster of things to come, ad network InMobi has lifted the lid on a number of stats CEO Naveen Tewari will divulge at Mobile World Congress later in February.

Tewari will use the stage in Barcelona to detail the results of the firm's global media consumption survey conducted during the fourth quarter of 2011, with a rise in consumer purchases via mobile leading the line.

The firm claims 53 percent of all mobile users have used their handset to make a purchase, with phones now using up more free time than the once dominant television – 27 percent of what InMobi dubs 'media time' to TV's 22 percent.

"The results of our survey showcase the ways in which mobile devices are revolutionising the media landscape in every corner of the world," said Tewari.

The firm claims 76 percent of those questioned said they plan to use their mobile to make purchases during 2012, with mobile advertising even finding a stable audience - 66 percent stating that they are "just as comfortable" with mobile advertising as they are with TV ads.

Mobile World Congress is due to kick off on February 27.
