Initial share prices triple

Japanese social studio Ateam makes IPO
Japanese social games studio Ateam has made an initial public offering (IPO) on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, with company listed in the Mothers section.

The Nagoya-based firm's initial price came in at ¥1,080 (around $13) per share, but that figure soon shot up to ¥3,425 (around $40).

Japan's A-Team

Ateam's biggest title to date is social releases Dark Summoner on iOS, which peaked at #17 on the App Store's top grossing list and hit #2 back in Japan.

Indeed, the firm's move towards an IPO has been designed to capitalise on the existing success its amassed to date, with its output across social platforms such as GREE, Mobage and Mixi of particular note.

Ateam's output also includes other digital content including websites and mobile services.

Ateam claims its next move is to cooperate with GREE on future projects. The two companies have already co-developed the social card battling game AKB48 Status Fighter.
