Activision's UK mobile studio reportedly bound for Leeds

Ex-Rockstar bosses on board

Activision's UK mobile studio reportedly bound for Leeds
Though Activision itself its remaining tight-lipped about its new mobile-focused UK studio, reports suggest the publisher could be looking to base the outfit in Leeds.

What's more, it's believed Martyn Brown – who has been tasked with heading up the new developer – has brought ex-Rockstar bosses Mark Washbrook and Mark Lloyd on board to help fill what will be 40 positions at the studio.

Rocking out

Washbrook founded Rockstar London back in 2005, while Lloyd headed up Rockstar's base in Lincoln for more than 12 years.

Activision itself has refused to reveal all too much about the new mobile studio, with a spokesperson simply claiming the publisher has "retained a number of consulting firms" to help it "recruit great talent from across the UK."

Activision launched an outpost in Leeds back in November 2011.

Interestingly, such a base puts the studio in direct competition with Lloyd Washbrook's former employers, with Rockstar Leeds – formally Mobius Entertainment - having been established in 2004.

PocketGamer.biz understands the publisher is currently searching for two additional developers to join its new mobile outfit, including a 2D GUI artist and a technical 3D artist.
