DeNA partners with Renren for big play in China

Social network strengthen's Mobage's hand

DeNA partners with Renren for big play in China
While rival GREE is preparing to wow western publishers and developers alike at E3, Japanese social gaming giant DeNA has turned its attention to China.

The firm's Chinese subsidiary has just unveiled a partnership with Renren, which runs one of the region's leading social networks.

The alliance will see a dedicated Mobage section hit Renren's Android app, allowing users to download the platform's games and log in with their Renren IDs.

Mobage momentum

Naturally, it's a move designed to expand Mobage's userbase, enabling newcomers to join without going through a labourious sign-up process.

"DeNA China's goal is to bring high-quality mobile games from around the world to the ever-increasing smartphone users in China," said DeNA China VP Lou Fei.

"Mobage and Renren are complementary in terms of users and offerings, and DeNA hopes to pioneer China’s social gaming market together with Renren."

DeNA originally launched Mobage in China on Android back in July 2011 before launching on iOS four months later, with 40 titles now on board.
