Google I/O 2012: Jelly Bean SDK developer preview available now

Much of Google's I/O press conference was naturally dedicated to the next version of Android, dubbed Jelly Bean.Android 4.1 will be rolled out over the air for owners of the Galaxy Nexus, Motorola Xoom and Nexus S from this July, though developers can experience Jelly Bean much earlier.Fully kitted upIn fact, they can play around with it today. The Jelly Bean SDK can now be downloaded in developer preview form from Google's website.No word was given on when Jelly Bean will be made available on other popular handsets, such as Samsung's Galaxy S range or HTC's One X. 



Sitting aside the SDK is a new platform development kit (PDK) aimed at hardware developers. Manufacturers can use the PDK to port Android to their devices, with the kit containing all the necessary source code.The PDK was made available to Google's partners a few weeks back in order to gather feedback, with the firm looking to improve its efficiency moving forward.
