The iPad Quality Index boasts over 40,000 reviews from websites like 148Apps, Pocket Gamer, and iPlayApps, and uses a unique metric to create a single definitive score for each iPad title.
Name that tune
Adopting a refreshingly irreverent, fourth wall-breaking tone, Picnic Hippo Studios's casual physics game Bucketz finished July 2012 at #2 in the iPad Qi game chart, one place below Wizards of the Coast's brilliantly realised digital interpretation of its physical card game phenomenon Magic: The Gathering.
Meanwhile, Song Pop, in fifth spot on this month's hit parade, takes the great British pub quiz out of the pub and puts it in your pocket. Featuring online cross-platform competitive play, Song Pop tasks you with identifying the names of tunes and artists before your opponent.
Right up alongside that is frenetic 2D shoot-'em-up Bug Princess 2 Black Label from cult Japanese developer Cave. This old skool blaster is actually a remix of Bug Princess 2, but with the addition of all-new God and Boss Rush modes.

N.B. While we only display the average score to one decimal place, the list is generated to further significant figures. We just don't show them all.
And, naturally, this is a static graph based on live listings which are subject to constant change as new releases and reviews emerge.
In order to provide a regular marker of the critical zeitgeist, however, we will continue to round up the best of the iPad games released each month to provide the definitive Quality Index top ten.
