HandyGames partners with Yodo1 for major move on China

5 games to hit iOS and Android

HandyGames partners with Yodo1 for major move on China
German publisher HandyGames has unveiled an intent to make a major move on the Chinese market, taking five of its biggest releases to both iOS and Android handsets in the region.

The launch of said games – which will include Clouds & Sheep, Guns 'n Glory, Guns 'n Glory WW2, Happy Vikings and Infecct – will be handled by full-service publishing platform Yodo!, helping HandyGames monetise in the country's fast expanding mobile market.

Changing for China

"China is the fastest growing mobile games' market in the world, and the English versions of our games had already proved popular in the market with several million downloads," said HandyGames CEO Christopher Kassulke.

"We're excited to work with Yodo1 to empower Chinese gamers to enjoy a truly localised experience on our games. Their market knowledge and localisation platform makes an otherwise painful process incredibly easy."

HandyGames claims Yodo1 is managing its "entire market entry process" for its games, including adapting play so it appeals to Chinese gaming, meeting local licensing requirements and creating additional monetisation streams, amongst other tasks.

"HandyGames is one of the top smartphone games developers in the world, but like any Western game developer, China presents a variety of challenges and opportunities," added Yodo1 CEO Henry Fong.

"Working closely with the HandyGames team, we were able to quickly adapt and launch five of their popular titles across 15 leading Android App Stores in China within two weeks of signing our partnership."
