Chinese publisher CocoaChina has announced that its flagship mobile title, Fishing Joy, has now been downloaded 100 million times worldwide.
Developed by its Beijing-based development arm Punchbox Studios, Fishing Joy is a freemium fishing game that launched on iOS back in April 2011.
An Android version followed in early 2012.
Gone fishin'
As well of racking up a prodigious number of downloads, CocoaChina's announcement notes that Fishing Joy can also boast some impressive user engagement levels.
"Users play 2.5 times longer per session and eight times as many users return to the game compared to typical mobile game titles, according to mobile apps analytical service Flurry," it said.
"This is a fantastic achievement for us because we have reached great scale while also maintaining an engaging play experience as users play longer and keep coming back," explained CocoaChina CEO Haozhi Chen.
"We are extremely proud to have reached such a significant milestone, and it inspires us to continue making the best games possible."
