SkyVu partners with Wildbrain to take Battle Bears to the small screen
SkyVu and Wildbrain Entertainment have announced a partnership that will see Battle Bears adapted into a television series.

The franchise has accumulated a total of more than 18 million downloads across Android and iOS, and according to SkyVu, the product of this deal will be "the first mobile app originated TV series with a full season of half-hour episodes."

Wild bears (never lose it)

"With Wildbrain producing the TV series and merchandise line, we'll be able to bring an immersive brand experience to our loyal fans on mobile and attract new fans on a global scale with fully localised episodes, games and merchandise," explained SkyVu founder and Battle Bears creator Ben Vu.

"Although we've built the brand in mobile games, millions of fans care about our heroes and continually ask what's going to happen next. This deep connection to the brand is what makes Battle Bears special."

Los Angeles-based Wildbrain Entertainment is responsible for television shows such as Yo Gabba Gabba! and The Ricky Gervais Show, as well as producing motion pictures, commercial content and licensed merchandise.

The company has signed a development deal with SkyVu to extend the Battle Bears brand with "a consumer products and licensing program."

For now, that means a TV show and a new line of Battle Bears merchandise.

"Between its built in fan base and the expandable universe that lends itself to consumer products and character-driven extensions such as series, Battle Bears has the potential to become the next big boys action comedy brand," added WildBrain president Michael Polis.
