Closing down the studio, it's claimed, is a cost cutting measure, though it's suggested the outfit's games such as iOS and Android card battler Yin Ayakashi record won't be affected.
That's unlike 11 of Zynga's other games, however, which are all set to be killed in an effort to stop the rot.
'Financial freefall'
Games such as Mafia Wars Shakedown and Word Scramble Challenge have all already been shut down, removed from app stores or are no longer accepting new players.
Nonetheless, Zynga's active library will continue to number 30, with focusing on proving winners serving as the company's reaction to what some commentators are now dubbing the 'financial freefall' that followed Zynga's IPO in late 2011.
The company posted a loss of $53 million in Q3 2012 as revenues sat flat, though CEO Mark Pincus claimed the company remained "well positioned" to capitalise on the continued growth of the social gaming scene.
Other games shut down include PetVille, FishVille, Vampire Wars, Treasure Isle, Indiana Jones Adventure World, Mafia Wars 2, Forestville, Montopia and Mojitomo.
