Kabam shapes for global mobile expansion, hires Glu SVP DeLaet

Looking to spread US success wider

Kabam shapes for global mobile expansion, hires Glu SVP DeLaet
Given its mobile revenue in 2012 was over $140 million and it's just launched an aggressive third-party publishing operation, Kabam is certainly on the move.

And it's backing up that activity with the appointment of Mike DeLaet.

Previously Glu Mobile's SVP of global publishing, DeLaet takes the role of SVP of worldwide business development at Kabam.

Sticky bang

Significantly, he led Glu's expansion into the Asia-Pacific region supporting its operations in China and South Korea, in terms of the development of local offices and localisation of games.

To-date, Kabam has had massive success in the west with mobile games such as Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North, which was the #1 top grossing iPhone game in the US during 2012.

However, it hasn't entered the top 100 top grossing iOS chart in China and only skimmed it for a couple of days in Korea.

"Kabam's focus on global strategic business partnerships is becoming increasingly important as we continue the disruption of the games industry," stated COO Chris Carvalho.

"Mike DeLaet has a proven track record of contributing to companies' player and revenue growth and we have big goals for him to help take our games into new platforms and geographies."
