Newzoo and Distimo expand partnership with new monthly mobile games industry reports
Analytics outfit Distimo and gaming market research firm Newzoo have announced they are to expand their existing partnership to include a new set of reports covering the mobile games industry.

From now on, Newzoo will make use of Distimo data to publish monthly rankings tracking the 20 best performing countries in terms of mobile gaming revenue on each app store.

The companies already collaborate to provide monthly reports on the top 20 games and the top 20 publishers on iOS and Google Play, and have been working together in this way for more than two years.

Step one

The inaugural set of international revenue rankings shows that Korea generates the most mobile gaming revenue on Google Play, while Japan is second and the US is third.

In terms of iPhone gaming revenues, the US is number one, followed by China in second and Japan in third. On iPad, the US is top again, with the UK and China accounting for second and third place respectively.

The rankings for each platform seem to show the steady rise of eastern mobile games revenue – a trend that Juniper Research recently predicted will lead to Asian dominance of in-app purchase revenues by 2016.

A blend

"Distimo's unique tech and methodology provides us and our clients with the most accurate and complete data on app stores available," explained Newzoo CEO Peter Warman.

"Mixing this data with our own research across all business models, screens and continents is where we see the biggest value added."

The full rankings for each app store are available free of charge from the Newzoo website. An accompanying Mobile Games Data Report, also prepared by Distimo and Newzoo in collaboration, is also available.
