Amazon opens Chinese version of Appstore for Android
Google Play might be 'app stora non grata' for paid apps in China, but that's not the case for all Western Android platforms.

Amazon has just rolled out its Appstore for Android in the country.

Supporting devices running Android 2.1, it includes free and paid apps and games.

As per usual, Chinese developers supporting the site get 70 percent of gross revenues (taking into account Amazon's special sales T&Cs), but they don't have to pay the $99 annual subscription.

Amazon has been quietly expanding its Chinese operations in recent months, including rolling out support for Kindle e-book Store. There's speculation it will launch its Paperwhite Kindle e-reader and Kindle Fire tablets soon.
