Super Kid Cannon to debut soon

Miami mobile start-up SkyJoy announces its presence
Having previously set up casual developer PoBros Inc, the Portilla brothers are now looking to step up with their new outfit, Miami-based SkyJoy Interactive.

Alejandro and Miguel Portilla have been joined by co-founder Abdulhady 'Abboudi' Taher, who is SkyJoy's CEO.

Taher's vision for the future is clear.

"We are building the company that we’ve always wanted to work for," he says.

"We aim to conceptualise, develop, and deliver innovative games and experiences with mass market appeal."

Up and running

To this end, SkyJoy will be focusing on casual and social games in the mobile market.

The Portilla brothers are hoping to quickly establish a name for SkyJoy by infusing its games with the spirit of classic games.

Started in late 2011, the studio is now 12 people strong, and its first game Super Kid Cannon is expected soon on iOS and Android.

South of the mouse

While Florida is certainly no stranger to the video games industry thanks to the presence of the Orlando-based EA - Tiburon campus (among other studios), Miami is relatively unknown in the games development scene.

Miguel Portilla feels this is ripe for a change.

"Miami is the perfect location to create our vision. It's truly an international city with so much rich culture, there is no reason this shouldn't be a hot bed for video game development."
