Customisation UI acting as services Trojan Horse?

Yandex continues its Android assault with global launch of Yandex.Shell homescreen
Russian internet company Yandex is rapidly pushing into mobile.

Last week, it announced it was a lead partner in the One Platform Foundation; news following on from the release of its own Yandex.Store for Android games and apps in March.

And now it's launching Yandex.Shell globally.

Front and center

Previously only available in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Turkey, it's a homescreen UI interface for Android devices.

Using a 3D carousel design, it enables users to customise their widgets and information flow.

Based on SPB Software's 3D.Shell (Yandex acquired the company back in 2011), Yandex.Shell integrates various services from the company, most notably its search platform and Yandex.Store.

Downloaded 1.1 million times since its March 2012 release, Yandex.Shell has already been used by various OEMs and operators, but now is available directly from Google Play.
