Debut game Supernauts out soon

Grand Cru prepares for success with $11 million funding round
With its highly anticipated debut Supernauts ready for release, Finnish developer Grand Cru has moved to secure its success.

It's just closed a $11 million Series A funding round, from Idinvest Partners, Qualcomm Ventures and Nokia Growth Partners.

Notably, this is the first time Nokia Growth Partners has invested in a game studio.

"We were very impressed with Grand Cru's team of mobile gaming veterans," said Walter Masalin of Nokia Growth Partners.

"They have created a great title and combined it with unique in-house developed technology. Growth in mobile gaming is accelerating and we are excited to be part of it."

Classic vintage

Founded in 2011 by principals from studios such as Mr Goodliving and Sulake, Grand Cru raised a $2 million seed round in 2012 from Idinvest and Playdom founder Rick Thompson, amongst others.

"At Grand Cru, our name derives from our ultimate goal of delivering outstanding products that raise the bar on quality, and our commitment has been recognised and bolstered by these strategic investments from partners such as Idinvest, Qualcomm Ventures and Nokia Growth Partners," said Markus Pasula, Grand Cru's CEO.

"Our soon-to-be-released first title Supernauts is a mass-market world-building game for iOS that is truly social, allowing players to solve puzzles and create shareable worlds, brick-by-brick."
