Limbo and You Don't Know Jack are heading the Quality Index's Top 10 rated iOS and Android games of July 2013
If you were wondering what the best-reviewed iOS and 'droid games on the web last month were, here are the iPhone Quality Index, iPad Quality Index, and Android Quality Index round-ups for July to fill you in.

The iPhone, iPad, and Android Quality Indexes boast over 650,000 reviews (in total) from websites like 148Apps, Pocket Gamer, and Gamezebo, and use a unique metric to create a single definitive score for each iOS and Android title.

Out on a Limb-o

It might be called Limbo, but Playdead's atmospheric platform-puzzler is in gaming HEAVEN after finishing atop the July iPhone Qi (and iPad Qi) game chart.

Still, the mood remains resolutely downbeat in this dark, melancholic masterpiece.

Speaking of arty adventure games...

In Hero of Many, you guide a bunch of tadpoles to safety in a Limbo-like silhouette world. Swell.

Just below Limbo on this month's iPad game chart, we have a double dose of digital kleptomania.

In Star Thief, at #3, you hoover up loose stars as quickly as they appear.

In Tiny Thief, at #4, however, you pinch, well, anything that's not nailed down. It's a charming point-and-click adventure from the Rovio Stars stable.

You should steal - sorry, download - them both yesterday.

It appears as if the maker of You Don't Know Jack really does have all the answers, as it's outsmarted the opposition to finish on top of the July Android Qi game chart.

Like some sort of big zany pub quiz played on your Android device, You Don't Know Jack is a definite winner.

Close behind at #2, Ending is a brutally effective combination of turn-based battler and logical puzzler. It's also starkly beautiful, in its own way.

On the subject of minimalist puzzlers, Semi Secret Software's enigmatic timing-based game Hundreds is in fourth position this month.

N.B. While we only display the average score to one decimal place, the lists are generated to further significant figures. We just don't show them all.

And, naturally, these are static graphs based on live listings which are subject to constant change as new releases and reviews emerge.

In order to provide a regular marker of the critical zeitgeist, however, we will continue to round up the best of the iOS and Android games released each month to provide the definitive Quality Index top tens.
