Pole position
Gameloft had a thoroughly triumphant August, with Asphalt 8: Airborne topping the iPhone Qi (and iPad Qi) game chart for the month.
With its blend of ludicrous arcade racing thrills and impressive 3D spills, it's easy to see why Asphalt 8 has finished in pole position this time around.

Time-hopping levels, new units, and a generally well-pitched IAP system are the standout features in this tower defence titan.

It's also a beautifully patient strategy game - not that its wilfully abstract presentation would tip you off to the fact.
A bit further down the leaderboard comes Dots: A Game About Connecting. The game's moniker simultaneously describes and undersells this game's charms.
Yes, you're connecting coloured dots, but you're doing so in a super-slick and incredibly more-ish way.
