Flying the flag: Indie collective Best of British rebrands as Full Indie UK

Launches 'fresh wave of public events'

Flying the flag: Indie collective Best of British rebrands as Full Indie UK
Set up with the intent of helping indie developers across the UK connect, developer collective Best of British has now officially rebranded as Full Indie UK.

Those behind the group say the change of name represents more than a lick of new paint, but also marks a shift towards organising a "fresh wave of public events" designed to help link up the UK's indie scene for collaborations.

Now headed up by Jake Birkett of Grey Alien Games – who originally founded the Full Indie movement in Vancouver, Canada – the body's next event will be a networking event in Birmingham in October, featuring a range of speakers and dinner.

Future growth

"Full Indie in Vancouver has become a huge group with great members and fantastic events," said Birkett.

"I'm looking forward to growing Full Indie UK in a similar manner with the help of a core team of volunteers."

The group, which was founded in 2012, already runs a regular column on PocketGamer.biz, as well as game hacks, which resulted in the release of two games, one of which was detailed on sister site Pocket Gamer.

"I'm very proud of what Best of British has achieved in it's years, especially having launched two great apps and supported hit games through development," offered founder and former chief Will Luton.

"And as with any successful organisation there comes a time when the big boys take notice. I'm very pleased that Jake is taking on BoB for the Full Indie brand and have already seen him put great efforts to shape great new things.

"The future is very bright for the group and its members."
