Short Cuts: Game Sparks on the rise of backend-as-a-service

At Apps World Europe 2013 conference in London, Pocket Gamer ran one of its Big Indie Pitch event.

One of the sponsors was Game Sparks.

It's a new outfit that's bringing its backend service smarts to mobile game developers, in particular the small indie developers who don't have a lot of cash or experience in cloud-based infrastructure.

In the cloud

Basically, this means that Game Sparks handles services ranging from e-commerce to communications, social networking and multiplayer, as well as more generic, but important, issues such as save data, authentication and analytics.

Of course, it doesn't provide all these itself, but working with other industry standard providers, enables everything to work together seamlessly via a web-side portal, as CEO Griffin Parry explains.

You can find out more details from the Game Sparks website.
