Fuse Powered buys app discovery start-up AppHero

Aims to eliminate SDK clutter

Fuse Powered buys app discovery start-up AppHero

Fuse Powered, the Toronto-based mobile publishing platform, has announced it's acquired app discovery start-up and fellow Canadian company, AppHero.

Billed as the first personalized mobile app recommendation platform, AppHero's addition to Fuse Powered's Fuseboxx platform will allow developers to engage in finely-targeted ad campaigns to attract new users.

The deal will see all of AppHero's staff, including 19-year-old CEO wunderkind Jordan Satok, join the Fuse Powered team.

Fused together

AppHero's proprietary algorithms were originally designed to intelligently suggest apps to users based on their download history and the apps currently installed on their devices.

Now, as a part of Fuse Powered, it appears that the laser-like focus of AppHero will be re-aimed toward paid placement through the Fuseboxx advertising platform.

Speaking on the acquisition, Fuse Powered's CEO Jon Walsh was confident that it would help round-out Fuseboxx as a platform.

"The addition of AppHero's powerful proprietary technology enables our delivery of optimized and intelligent targeting, a significant improvement over the industry's typical scatter-gun approach to ads.

"This acquisition solidifies our position as a one-stop solution provider for top mobile publishers and very critically alleviates the need for publishers to manage dozens of conflicting SDKs."

And the new Fuse Powered employee, Satok, echoed Walsh's sentiment.

"I'm excited for the AppHero team to join Fuse Powered, and integrate our personalization technology into the Fuseboxx advertising platform.

"This collaboration will have a huge impact on the quality and relevance of ads millions of people see every day, and significantly increase ad rates for publishers using Fuseboxx."
