Lords of Waterdeep and Plants vs Zombies 2 are heading the Quality Index's Top 10 rated iOS and Android games of November 2013

If you were wondering what the best-reviewed iOS and 'droid games on the web last month were, here are the iPhone Quality Index, iPad Quality Index, and Android Quality Indexround-ups for November to fill you in.

The iPhone, iPad, and Android Quality Indexes boast over 650,000 reviews (in total) from websites like 148Apps, Pocket Gamer, and Gamezebo, and use a unique metric to create a single definitive score for each iOS and Android title.

Going deeper underground

You might think that Playdek's Lords of Waterdeep is an unlikely candidate for the top of the November iPhone Qi (and iPad Qi) games league table, but it earns its position through some impeccable fantasy boardgame action.

Just behind Ubi superstar Rayman is Papa Sangre 2, whose creator steps back into experimental territory with this audio-centric gaming experience.

And, no, we don't mean you have to operate your iPhone with your lobes. Now that WOULD be experimental.

At #5 on this month's iPad Qi games chart is Rayman Fiesta Run. Here, then, is the consummate mainstream entertainer in a colourful platformer world.

On the subject of platforming games... Hurrah!

It's the return of Mickey Mouse in a brilliant platform game - something we haven't seen since the early '90s.

Castle of Illusion is a magical blast from the past in tenth spot. No question. On either count.

The Android Qi games chart for November is all about top-notch sequels.

First up is Plants vs Zombies 2, PopCap and EA's freemium-inflected re-tweak of the casual tower defence formula.

With Dead Trigger 2, meanwhile, Madfinger takes the solid FPS mechanics and gorgeous graphics of the original and fleshes it out into a more complete game.

Bringing up the rear - so to speak - is Star Wars: Tiny Death Star, which took everyone by surprise with the effortless melding of Tiny Tower management and a familiar sci-fi setting.

N.B. While we only display the average score to one decimal place, the lists are generated to further significant figures. We just don't show them all.

And, naturally, these are static graphs based on live listings which are subject to constant change as new releases and reviews emerge.

In order to provide a regular marker of the critical zeitgeist, however, we will continue to round up the best of the iOS and Android games released each month to provide the definitive Quality Index top tens.
