The Room, Ridiculous Fishing and Badland up for Satellite Awards

Nominations for this year's Satellite Awards are out, and there are some familiar games in the running for the award for Outstanding Mobile Game.

Vlambeer's explosive fishing simulator Ridiculous Fishing - which was just named as Apple's iPhone game of the year - is in the running, along with Fireproof's mysterious puzzler, The Room and Frogmind's gorgeous platformer Badland.

Also up for the award is Rodeo Games' strategic dungeon crawler Warhammer Quest and the iOS version of Firaxis Games' console hit XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Big hitters

This is only the third year that an award have been given for mobile games, with the first two awards being picked up by Infinity Blade II in 2011, and Super Monsters Ate My Condo in 2012.

Winners are decided by journalists signed up to the IPA - International Press Academy - with members including working freelance and staff writers, bloggers, broadcasters, and photographers from more than 20 different countries.
