Crucial training, affordable prices

UKIE launches discounted training programme for games businesses

UK trade association UKIE has revealed it is to offer businesses the chance to attend a series of industry specific training courses at a heavily discounted rate, with extra savings available for UKIE members.

The new programme will launch with a Digitial Marketing for Games course - a day long event that will help companies understand the discovery and marketing techniques that can be used in a digital marketplace.

By making use of the government's Skills Investment Fund, UKIE has been able to reduce the cost of courses by 50 percent.

Sign up fees (which would usually be priced at around £550 a head) will come in at £200 per person, or £150 per person, if they're a UKIE member.

Cutting costs, not content

UKIE CEO Jo Twist said the programmes have been designed to help businesses of all sizes operating within the games industry, with the courses as relevant as they are affordable.

"Co-creating these courses with games businesses and shaping it to be relevant to them is really important. Training is crucial but expensive for companies," said Twist.

"Knowing a course has been designed with your needs as games businesses in mind, getting a much better rate than normal courses, and being surrounded by other people in the industry for a day is an added bonus.

"We know from speaking to our network of small and large businesses across development and publishing, that digital marketing skills are a priority and there will be more bespoke courses like this rolling out this year."

Horses for courses

The Digital Marketing for Games courses will be held on 3rd March and 23rd May in London and Birmingham respectively.

A Business Management for Games Business course, aimed at early stage companies, will be the next to run as part of the 2014 programme.

What do you call someone who has an unhealthy obsession with video games and Sean Bean? That'd be a 'Chris Kerr'. Chris is one of those deluded souls who actually believes that one day Sean Bean will survive a movie. Poor guy.
