Distimo on UK outfit's solid growth

NaturalMotion had become a 'top' iOS publisher before Zynga acquisition

NaturalMotion has jumped up the global iOS top grossing publishers chart, with the Oxford-based outfit's growth during the last six months casting light on social giant Zynga's decision to acquire the firm.

According to stats published by analytics specialist Distimo, NaturalMotion – which is behind the likes of CSR Racing, My Horse and Clumsy Ninja – is now one of the leading publishers on iOS based on downloads and revenue estimates from AppIQ.

On the up and up

The firm has jumped from #43 in July 2013 to #34 in January 2014, while it also leapt up the global iOS top free publishers chart, rising from #146 in July 2013 to #21 in January 2014.

NaturalMotion has also been climbing up the charts on the Amazon Appstore, shooting up from #284 in October 2013 on the global Amazon Appstore top free publishers chart, to #26 in November 2013.

Since then, progress has been slow but steady, with the company securing the #22 spot in December 2013, before moving up again to #21 in January 2014.

"NaturalMotion has shown that it has a track record as a top publisher that releases chart-topping games," detailed Distimo's Scott Reyburn.

"We look forward to the kind of games Zynga and NaturalMotion will cook up together in the future."

Zynga announced the acquisition of NaturalMotion for $527 million at the end of January, with the US firm paying out $391 million in cash for the UK outfit, plus around 39.8 million shares.

What do you call someone who has an unhealthy obsession with video games and Sean Bean? That'd be a 'Chris Kerr'. Chris is one of those deluded souls who actually believes that one day Sean Bean will survive a movie. Poor guy.
