Unity unveils Seattle as host city for Unite 2014

Returns to US for first time in 3 years

Unity unveils Seattle as host city for Unite 2014

Having made its mark in the Canadian city of Vancouver last August, Unity has announced that this year's Unite – its main annual conference – will take place little over 100 miles south in Seattle.

It's the first time since 2011 that Unity's main conference will take place on US soil, with Unity stating it's looking to build on the "incredible success" it enjoyed when more than 1,300 people attended north of the border last summer.

'Vibrant'

As previously, Unity is pitching Unite 2014 as its primary get together, where developers, publishers and other interested parties meet up to partake in hands-on tutorials, technical sessions, previews of upcoming technology and scores of industry-focused talks.

"2014 sees Unite change settings to another of North America’s game development hubs, Seattle, Washington," detailed Unity in a statement.

"A vibrant city full of tech giants and development luminaries, Seattle offers an inspiring setting for developers of all backgrounds."

Unite 2014 will run between 20-22 August at the Marion Oliver McCaw Hall at the Seattle Center in the heart of the city, with a separate training day – pitched at inexperienced Unity users looking to get up to speed before the show begins - hitting the Seattle Center Pavilion on 19 August.

Global game

Unite 2014 in Seattle isn't the only event Unity is throwing during the next 12 months, however.

As in 2013, Unity is also planning to host a series of regional Unite conferences and bootcamps across China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Mexico, and Brazil, with additional events to be announced later in the year.

These one to two day events are designed to provide Unity developers with valuable learning and networking opportunities, with region-specific sessions to make them relevant to local attendees.

The first regional Unite will hit Tokyo in Japan between 7-8 April, before moving to Seoul in South Korea between 9-10 April and Beijing in China between 13-14 April.

The last stop in Asia is currently scheduled to be Taipei in Taiwan between 17-18 April. Unite will then head south to Melbourne in Australia for a one-day event on 27 October, with other stops in São Paulo in Brazil and an unannounced venue in Mexico yet to be revealed.

More information on all Unity's events in 2014 can be found over on the firm's website.
