Pocket Gamer Connects: Announcing our Helsinki schedule

As you're no doubt well aware, Pocket Gamer Connects is set to hit Helsinki on the 16-17 June - that's in less than two months time.

So, aside from spinning our events team into a blind panic, our prime task right now is educating you, the potential attendee, as to just what we have planned for our mobile gaming jamboree.

If you're already signed up for our splash in Helsinki's Old Harbour, then sit back and savour what's in store. If you're still undecided, see if this whets your appetite:

Day 1: Unconference fun

On the 16 June, we’ll be kicking off proceedings with a day of free form conference networking. Channelling the spirit of jazz music, we’ll be providing you with a perfect structure for you to go out and network in whatever way you like.

The first morning of the conference will be all about wandering past the stands in the expo hall, checking out our new Indie Developer Showcase (which we’ll be announcing more details of very soon) and arranging meetings in our dedicated meeting space.

There’ll also be a chance to check out fringe talks and experience the madness of Pecha Kucha talks, in which we give leading mobile experts a little over 6 minutes to get through 20 slides, which will definitely prove highly informative/amusing.

Then in the afternoon, we’ll be taking this ‘unconference’ format and folding it into a couple of classic Pocket Gamer events that’ll help indie developers to shine. Kicking off at 2pm, we’ll be running another Very Big Indie Pitch where developers will have a chance to show their wares off to leading journalists and industry dignitaries.

Once we’ve crowned the winner of the pitch, we’ll be hosting a couple more events in the evening to get your teeth into.

We’ll be hosting another one of our ever popular Mobile Mixers, where the booze and knowledge flows freely, for everyone to attend as well as an exclusive VIP dinner from 7:30pm for a select lucky few, with both scheduled to finish at about 10pm to give you the chance of grabbing an early night.

Day 2: It’s show time!

And you’d be well advised to take that early night because day two is going to be absolutely jam packed full of talks.

We’ll be running a Very Big Indie Pitch where devs will have a chance to show off their wares.

As you may have already seen, we’ve already confirmed thirty speakers talking across our two tracks dedicated to ‘East Meets West’ and ‘Indie Rockstars’ and we plan to add dozens more before the big day.

That means there’ll be a whole day of excellent conference talks to check out.

From understanding the challenges facing smaller developers in our Indie Rockstars track to learning the best way to succeed in mobile gaming across the world in our East meets West track, our wall to wall talks will keep you in your seat all afternoon.

In particular, we recommend setting aside time for our talk about the Finnish perspective on the history of mobile gaming which is going to be a highlight of the day.

Best of all, to round things off in style, we’ll be bringing PG Connects to an end with another batch of entertaining Pocket Gamer events.

At 6:30pm in the evening, we’ll be hosting a booth cruise at the venue to let you grab one last drink and networking opportunity before we go on to party from 7:30pm until 1am in one of Helsinki’s party hot spots. Just make sure you book your travel home late the next day as it might take some time to recover
