GameMaker: Studio beefs up support for Microsoft hardware, adding Xbox One

YoYo Games has announced at GDC Europe in Cologne that GameMaker: Studio now supports all Microsoft platforms and will support future operating system releases too.

The headline of the deal sees the 2D game making packaged extended to Xbox One, but Windows RT, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 all gain enhanced support as part of the initiative.

As well as Microsoft hardware, GameMaker: Studio also supports Android, HTML5, iOS, OS X, PlayStations 3 and 4, PS Vita, Tizen and Ubuntu.

More for the same

"We're thrilled that the Xbox developer community now has the ability to use GameMaker," said Ryan Lowdermilk, Microsoft's marketing manager.

"With GameMaker already available for Windows Phone and Windows, it gives developers another great way to create games across multiple Microsoft platforms."
