Weekly UK App Store Charts: Minecraft takes back its crown as Godus becomes a freemium deity

All good things must come to an end, which is why Micromon's  reign at the top of the iPhone paid charts, no matter how sweet, was never going to last.

Naturally, it's successor is non-other than Mojang's Minecraft, the game it replaced on its way to the top.

So, with Minecraft  once again sitting pretty at the top of both paid charts, and Micromon  slowly diminising into the west - dropping down to #3 the iPhone charts and #6 on the iPad charts - it's time to take a look at the young hopefuls aiming to sieze fame and fortune.

Since entering the charts last week Godus  has managed to replace Sega's Crazy Taxi  at the top of the iPad free charts, while Heads Up!  has overtaken Micromon to become Minecraft's  latest challenger on iPhone.

Rules!, a new entry from TheCodingMonkeys, is also making some headway on the iPhone paid chart. Meanwhile, Chillingo's Zombie High Dive  looks like it could be poised to give Godus  a run for its money on iPad.

Will any of these new faces be able to make a lasting impact? Come back next week to find out.

What do you call someone who has an unhealthy obsession with video games and Sean Bean? That'd be a 'Chris Kerr'. Chris is one of those deluded souls who actually believes that one day Sean Bean will survive a movie. Poor guy.
