Tencent co-leads $10 million investment into Dots developer

Playdots Inc - aka Dots - the developer of the popular Dots: A Game About Connecting and TwoDots has announced it's raised $10 million.

The Series A round was co-led by Tencent and Greycroft Partners.

Other investors included Northzone, CrunchFund, and an Alphaworks syndicate that includes Slow Ventures, Li Ruigang, Susan Lyne and a diverse assembly of other notable investors and game industry executives.

Going dotty

"It's been immensely gratifying to watch millions of people across the globe engage with our games," said Dots co-founder and CEO Paul Murphy.

"This investment from an incredible set of partners will help Dots become one of the leading mobile-first games studios."

The NYC-based studio - which PocketGamer.biz recently profiled - has received over 45 million downloads of its game and will be investing the money in accelerated the Dots franchise in 2015.
