Registration opens for Microsoft Cloud Gaming Day on 19 January

Just what does the cloud mean for games developers? If that’s a question you’ve asked, Microsoft’s Cloud Gaming Day could be a great place to answer it.

Taking place on 19 January at Cardinal Place in London, the event aims to uncover the opportunities available in the cloud gaming space.

The huge amounts of data and processing power available today have prompted a real shift in interest towards virtualised games.

Just some of the benefits of cloud gaming include how it can allow developers to achieve economies of scale, a flexible system and a global reach without investing in their own expensive infrastructure.

Stick your head in the cloud

Over the course of the day, Microsoft will attempt to expand upon these in detail. It has promised to give attendees guidance on the cloud services that are available, alongside developer tools.

The Cloud Gaming Day is also an opportunity for Microsoft to showcase its $1.2 million innovation fund, a cash pot put aside especially for games developers who wish to take advantage of the cloud.

To learn more about it, register for your place on the day here on Microsoft’s website.

The event is free, and runs from 9.30am until 5pm on the 19 January.
