Nomad Games plunges into specialist indie publishing

Tabletop gaming specialist Nomad Games is adding a new string to its bow by offering publishing services to small, indie studios.

The mobile and PC publisher says it will carry on developing first party titles, but is on the hunt for niche, small studios creating tabletop games that it can add to its portfolio.

In return, Nomad Games will offer indies PR, marketing, QA and localization services.

A very specific set of skills

The Chesire, England-based company was founded in 2012 by Juice co-founder Don Whiteford. Its Talisman brand was released alongside Games Workshop on mobile last year, selling over one million units across PC and mobile devices.

“Nomad Games is, itself, a niche developer which means we fully understand the opportunities – but also the pitfalls – of self publishing,” said Whiteford in a statement.

“We’re delighted with the success we’ve enjoyed with Talisman, not only in terms of the sales we’ve achieved across PC, Android and iOS, but with the huge international community we’ve built for what is a very niche table-top title.

“We’re looking forward to helping other indie studios with products in the board, card and dice game genre achieve similar results in the future.”
