Glu builds more social muscle adding Nicki Minaj to its Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry and Britney Spears deck

The success of Kim Kardashian: Hollywood and the ever-increasing cost of CPI sees Glu expanding its library of celebrity licensing.

The latest addition is hip-hop superstar Nicki Minaj, who will star in her own mobile game in the summer of 2016.

The exclusive agreement covers Minaj's name, likeness, voice, and creative direction to develop what Glu is calling a "one-of-a-kind digital experience".

Significantly, Glu also highlighted the performer's social reach, which is 42 million on Facebook, 30 million on Instagram, 20 million on Twitter, and 9.1 million on Vevo.

Indeed, Glu was also keen to point out that its "celebrity gaming platform" now has around 650 million followers across all social media channels.

Bring the fanbase

"I am thrilled to welcome the undisputed queen of hip-hop, Nicki Minaj, to Glu's growing list of celebrity partners," said Glu CEO Niccolo de Masi.

"Nicki brings to Glu her audience of over 100 million social followers and a new music category. We look forward to combining Nicki's distinctive style and massive global appeal with Glu's celebrity social gaming expertise."
