DeNA guns for Kamcord and Mobcrush in new streaming app Mirrativ

Livestreaming on mobile has been a thorn in many a gamers’ side, but now DeNA thinks it’s come up with a solution.

Mirrativ is the Japanese mobile game publisher’s new mobile phone livestreaming platform that goes into beta today.

It allows users to stream anything that’s happening on their smartphone screen live, alongside broadcasts of their voice and face.

Streamlined

If successful, it could solve that age old juggling act that broadcasters face where an entire toolbox of external components must be bought just to capture game footage.

VentureBeat claims that in its hands-on demo with the software, it was able to set up an account and start a live broadcast of an Android game within just three minutes. No external converters or extra cameras were used, though there was a delay of about three to five seconds.

Mirrativ is also launching an app that allows viewers to watch the broadcast that, similar to Periscope’s heart system, allows them to show their approval by tapping the screen to generate an explosion of stars on the broadcasters’ device.

"With Mirrativ, we wanted to approach livestreaming in a unique, personal way to create a more streamlined experience for users. Even the name depicts the intimate sharing – or mirroring – of a user's narrative which, in this case, is their experience on their smartphone or tablet," said Junichi Akagawa, producer at DeNA.

"For example, a mobile gamer will be able to share tips and tricks for the latest releases with their followers. Users can also seek out personalized shopping advice while searching e-commerce sites. With any of these experiences, viewers will be able to interact with the broadcaster in real-time, sharing comments and stickers to create a conversation and shared experience."
