Mobcrush has just sealed the deal on an $11 million financing round led by Kleiner Perkins.
The Californian startup is trying to sweep the rug from under Twitch’s feet, and centre its operations with a “mobile-first” focus on game streaming.
Going mobile
It’s betting that mobile game live-streaming will be bigger than the PC market, owing to the fact that on a global scale more people own smartphones than they do PCs.
Investors seem to agree, and Raine Venture Partners, First Round Capital, Lowercase, Rincon Venture Partners, Crosscut Ventures and Advancit Capital also threw money in the pot.
“KPCB shares our vision for how the mobile landscape is evolving, and sees the massive demand for an easy, accessible streaming solution for gamers on the platform, said Royce Disini, CEO, Mobcrush.
“As our company grows and we get closer to officially launching our product, we’re humbled to see the tremendous support from our investors, but also our partners, community and players.”
The Mobcrush platform is currently in beta for iOS and MacOSX with Android and Windows set to launch soon.
