As part of Pocket Gamer Connects San Francisco 2015, Simon Chow, Business Development Manager at Animoca Brands, gave a talk on the benefits of working with brands.
One of the key bonuses, according to Chow, is that "most of the time they provide us with a huge or rich asset library", which reduces development time and costs as you don't need to focus too much on making your own resources.
Success not guaranteed
There's also the benefit of free advertising, not only from leveraging the social media associated to the brand, but also because the game is more likely to be featured on app stores.
But Chow warns that partnering with a successful brand doesn't mean your game will be a success, and says "if you don't have confidence in your game, don't bother to look for a brand."
