Given the sales velocity of 3DS and PS Vita (still a thing?), any company wanting to get into the dedicated handheld gaming space is either ambitious or foolhardly.
Your view on Smach Team, which has launched a Kickstarter for its Smach Z 'Steam-on-the-go' handheld, will likely be filtered by your view on crowdfunding.
Nevertheless, the Smach Team has (at time of writing) 34 days to go to raise the additional €841,000 it needs to reach its funding goal.
Supporting it now will get you something hot in your hand at the cost of €299 for the standard version and €499 for the Pro version.
Tech spec-wise, the Smach Z comes with a 1080p 5-inch screen, 4Gb of RAM, and an AMD Embedded G-Series processor, while the Pro version has 8Gb of RAM, a front-facing camera and 4G capabilities.
The company claims the handheld will be compatible with more than 1,000 games at launch.
