Finnish game jam Survival Mode sees devs building games while trying to stay alive

In an event that simply screams "Finland", the Finnish Game Jam Association is hosting a "Survival Mode" game jam on January 29-31 in Lapland as part of the Global Game Jam.

The event will see 20 developers living in a cabin for a weekend with no running water, inconsistent electricity and internet, and only a sauna (and booze) as respite against the cold.

Frozen

The jam has already attracted talent from some of the bigger Finnish studios, with representatives from Seriously and Frogmind Games having signed on to take part, amongst others.

It's one of 22 game jam events organized for the Global Game Jam weekend, although it is unlikely that any of the others will carry the potential to freeze to death.

Whether the jam will produce an exciting new game, or simply lead to a situation à la Chuck Palahniuk's Haunted, is anyone's guess.
