Apple Watch price dropped to $299

Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced on stage at Apple's March Event that Apple Watch will be getting a price drop, bringing it to $299.

Already the top-selling smartwatch in the world - although that may not be much of a statement at this stage - Cook stated that he wants the lower price point to allow the Apple Watch to reach more people.

The replaceable bands have proven to be one of Apple Watch's most popular features, with a third of users reportedly switching between them frequently. As such a new nylon band was also announced.

While the smartwatch has yet to fulfil its gaming potential, perhaps a more affordable Apple Watch can go some way to changing this.
