Two in a row as Team Secret takes victory at Vainglory Winter Season 2016 EU Championships

Team Secret has won the Vainglory Winter Season 2016 EU Championships, held at the Gfinity Arena in London, taking home the grand prize of $12,500.

The team, formerly known as Media Pixel eSport prior to their acquisition by the Team Secret organisation, also won the Autumn Season 2015 EU Championships, making this their second victory in a row.

The long road to success

The team had a rough road reaching the final, having been knocked into an elimination bracket on the second day of the tournament by their eventual final opponents, Russian team Snow Tsunami.

But they came back hard, and eventually steamrolled their way through the semi-finals and finals, not losing a single match on the last day of the tournament.

First-timers

"This was the first touchscreen tournament in the UK and we couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere," said Kristian Segerstrale, COO and Executive Director at Super Evil Megacorp.

"We are still new to eSports, this being our second ever season, but the tournament sold out and we are seeing a growth in viewers, indicating a passion for touchscreen competitive gaming."

"We are always looking for ways to build Vainglory and our eSports scene together with the community. We are excited to see how far we have come in a short space of time already."
