At Pocket Gamer Connects London 2016, we spoke to Josh Cornejo, Manager of Global Sales at Softlayer, about the importance of cloud hosting and GPNs.

Softlayer as a company provides a cloud hosting service, providing all the various tools and servers "all on a scalable, consumable platform", allowing for rapid scaling for your game.

Ahead in the clouds

Cornejo said that what sets the company apart from other service provides is their "hybrid cloud computing", allowing you to use both bare-metal servers and virtual servers for your game.

Both of the types of servers are on Softlayer's global private network, and any traffic communicating between servers is completely free of charge on their network, unlike other providers which charge for any and all communication.
