Puzzle & Dragons reaches 10 million downloads in North America

But will it be enough to keep GungHo afloat?

Puzzle & Dragons reaches 10 million downloads in North America

GungHo has announced that its cash cow, puzzle-RPG Puzzle & Dragons, has now been downloaded over 10 million times in North America.

The game had reached 9 million downloads in the region as of 30 December 2015, so it has therefore achieved around a million downloads in 2016.

To-date, it's done 41 million downloads in its core Japan heartland.

Is it enough?

Gungho says that the increase in downloads is due to its TV advertising, as it launched an advert in North America in September 2015.

This hasn't stopped the company from seeing its profits fall, however. It revealed that its operating profits were down 23% year-on-year in its 2015 financial report.

And while its business is currently propped up by Puzzle & Dragons – the game accounted for 89% for the company's revenue in 2015 – it is beginning to stagnate in Japan.
