With 500,000 downloads, Gear VR fishing game Bait! boasts 50% attach rate

While many are debating the success or otherwise of the VR gaming revolution, Swedish developer Resolution Games is just getting on with supporting its debut fishing sim Bait!.

The free game, available via the Oculus VR Store for Samsung Gear VR, has been downloaded 500,000 times.

This is up from 150,000 downloads announced back in March

Localised versions for Germany, Spain, Italy and France have just been released, and support for what it calls "additional global audiences" will be rolled out over the coming weeks alongside a new level and more fish species.

As for that download number, it's pretty impressive given that the entire Gear VR ecosystem is currently measured around one million user a month and/or around 300,000 Gear VR headsets were sold in Europe during the period January to mid-May 2016.

"The first consumer devices are just now hitting the shelves with consumer and market interest steadily impressing us and driving us to keep pushing the limits and setting new standards for VR", said Resolution's CEO Tommy Palm.
